ABOUT THE COMPANY
Vertus Conflict Solutions is a center of excellence in mediation and management of conflicts in Brazil. Founded in 2015 by Rubens Decoussau Tilkian, it has the goal of training and helping people, companies and other entities to find negotiated and humanized solutions to neutralize and resolve conflicts, as well as to contribute to the personal formation of individuals, by means of techniques to promote self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
Vertus has a team of renowned and certified professionals with extensive experience in mediation and strategic negotiation, using its own unique and innovative methodology to resolve conflicts.
Since its founding, Vertus has taken part in reaching more than 80 thousand accords in a wide range of areas, in matters worth over 2 billion reais, and has trained and certified in its courses more than 550 people as mediators and conflict managers.
It is organized into different areas so as to meet both personal and business needs, namely: Education, Private Mediation, Liability Reduction, Coaching and Strategic Negotiation, Trusts and Estate Planning, Script of our Lives and Peer Mediation in Schools.
Vertus’ mission is to help society to achieve a better understanding of daily conflicts, to enable individuals to deal with their internal and/or relational difficulties better, by applying efficient tools to promote the transformation of conflicts into opportunities.
HISTORY OF VERTUS
Vertus was born in 2015 based on the desire of its founder, the lawyer Rubens Decoussau Tilkian, who now has 25 years of experience in the various forms of alternative dispute resolution, to teach and help people to resolve and manage their conflicts cooperatively and constructively. The key to this success is the transformation of a culture of conflict, so common in interpersonal relations, into a culture of dialog, to enable resolving problems by means of mediation and reciprocal comprehension.
Since his adolescent years, Rubens has been involved in mediating complex family conflicts, and in adult life he has dedicated efforts to improve and expand the scope of this inherent talent, by offering specialized courses and training. Rubens has mastered the skills of coaching, neurolinguistics, and negotiation and mediation of conflicts in many areas, such as family, consumer, civil, business, sports, labor and public relations, through judicial and extrajudicial mediation.
The creation of Vertus was the materialization of Rubens’ dream of using his skills and knowledge to reduce the violence of interpersonal and inter-organizational relations, by helping people to find more empathetic and collaborative solutions to their conflicts, achieved through the multidisciplinary methods developed by Rubens.
In these eight years of activity, Vertus has taken part in over 80 thousand accords to end disputes in a wide range of areas; certified more than 550 people in its courses (recognized by the São Paulo State Court of Appeals); provided in-company training to the members of respected law firms, banks and large companies; and provided pro bono training and certification to more than 80 people associated with NGOs that care for needy children and adolescents, among other actions. With the purpose of expanding its activities, Vertus intends to start working in the United States.
According to the founder Rubens Decoussau Tilkian, “the differential of our work is the way we identify and deal with conflicts. We do not see conflicts as negative, but instead as opportunities for growth through behavioral change. Only when people fail to take the opportunity to change when faced with repetitive conflicts do these become weighty and negative in their lives.”
